Stoke City seem finally close to offloading Gianni Imbula, and are also trying to bring in Ryan Woods from Championship rivals Brentford.

When you look at the players Stoke City have brought in during the last few transfer windows, it is easy to see why the team has struggled over the last 12 months. Alongside the likes of Jese and Kevin Wimmer, underwhelming big-money signings like Gianni Imbula have surely paved the way for The Potters’ recent change in fortunes.
Stoke signed Imbula from Porto for a club-record fee of £18.3 million in the 2016 winter transfer window, according to Goal. The French midfielder has made just 23 Premier League starts in that time, enduring a disappointing loan spell at Toulouse last season.
The Mail reports, however, that Stoke could sell Imbula before the end of August. It is understood that the former Marseille prospect is being courted by a number of clubs in La Liga.

Along with Imbula, the report adds that Stoke boss Gary Rowett has also told Charlie Adam and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting that they are also free to leave the Bet 365 Stadium.
Stoke are hoping to sign one more player before the window shuts too with a loan-to-buy move for Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods understood to be their top priority. Stoke-on-Trent Live reports that Rowett sees Woods as a player who will strengthen and complete his first choice midfield.
