Gerard Deulofeu shone in the Premier League and FA Cup for Watford under Javi Gracia but is a return to the Serie A giants on the cards?

Watford winger Gerard Deulofeu would return to AC Milan ‘in a heartbeat’, according to Calciomercato.

At the age of 25, Deulofeu has already represented Barcelona, Everton, Sevilla and Milan during a nomadic playing career but he has only started to really show signs of quality on a consistent basis since joining Watford in 2018 for a fee of £11.5 million (BBC).

The Spain international scored a career-best 12 goals for Javi Gracia’s side in 2018/19, including a stunning brace in the FA Cup semi-final victory against Wolves.

But Deulofeu has frequently hinted that his long-term future may not lie at Vicarage Road with one of Europe’s most naturally talented wingers eyeing a return to the top level of world football.

According to Calciomercato, he would love to return to the San Siro, having played 18 games for AC Milan during a loan spell in the second half of the 2016/17 season.

Watford are demanding £25 million for their prized asset.

But the report adds that any deal has become increasingly complicated for Milan with the club’s sporting director Leonardo, who tried to sign Deulofeu in January, stepping down after the Rossoneri missed out on Champions League qualification yet again.
