West Ham United are reportedly still keen to bring Besiktas midfielder Gary Medel back to the Premier League despite a failed £6.5m bid.

Gary Medel is hoping to force through a move to West Ham United by cancelling his contract at Besiktas, according to Fanatik.

Medel has been tipped to link up with fellow Chilean Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium since December, with Miliyet claiming in late 2018 that the Hammers had made a £6.5 million bid.

It seems that the two-time Copa America winner is still in their sights as we enter what promises to be an intriguing summer transfer window for West Ham.

And the fact that Medel is desperate to return to the Premier League, having spent the 2013/14 season at Cardiff City, surely gives them a chance of bringing this ongoing saga to a happy conclusion.

Medel has another 12 months left on his contract at Besiktas but Fanatik claims that he wants to terminate his deal at the Super Lig giants due to unpaid wages. The 2017 Turkish champions have been in financial difficulty for some time now.

Besiktas have made it clear that they don’t want to lose Medel on a free, however, so the 31-year-old could find himself stuck between a rock and hard place over the next few weeks.
