Caglar Soyuncu has not made a Premier League appearance for Leicester City since his £19m summer move from Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg.

Leicester City paid a combined £32 million on two new centre-backs during the summer transfer window but neither have made a single Premier League appearance so far.

Filip Benkovic was farmed out on loan to Celtic after arriving from Dinamo Zagreb while The Foxes have been careful to avoid throwing Caglar Soyuncu in at the deep end.

The 22-year-old Turk, a £19 million addition from Freiburg, has not been included in a single match-day squad since arriving at the King Power Stadium.

As a result, Turkish publication Milliyet is now claiming that Galatasaray are hoping to take full advantage by bringing Soyuncu home in the January transfer window.

Gala are currently the reigning champions of the Super Lig and, it is reported, want to make one or two big-name signings in the New Year with the 20-time international top of their wish-list.

The prospect of Leicester letting Soyuncu go, either on a permanent or temporary basis, looks very slim however. Foxes manager Claude Puel indicated prior to Monday night’s clash with Arsenal that Soyuncu is now ready to make his mark having spent the last few months adapting to life in England.

“I think he is ready but now he has to compete with other players in this situation, against experienced players like [Wes] Morgan, [Jonny] Evans and Harry Maguire,” Puel said in quotes reported by Football London.

“He is a younger player with a lot of attributes and he is working very well in training and he is now ready to play for me.”
