The ongoing dispute over Chris Martin’s future looks set to rumble on but, in Eibar frontman Sergi Enrich, Fulham could find a useful replacement.
Fulham are preparing to make a huge deadline day bid for Eibar forward Sergi Enrich, AS reports, as they aim to add extra firepower to their attack to spur on their play-off challenge.
Slavisa Jokanovic’s Cottagers are just five points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday in sixth while only Barnsley, Norwich and second placed Newcastle have scored more than their 44 goals this season.
And that impressive tally could yet increase further with AS claiming that Fulham are preparing to trigger 26-year-old Enrich’s £8.6 million release clause.
Cynics will immediately point to Borja Baston’s inability to settle in English football as a potential pitfall. After all, Swansea City’s record signing, who played alongside Enrich for Eibar last season, has followed up 18 La Liga goals with just one for the South Wales club.
However, Enrich appears a perfect fit for the rigours of the English game, with his aerial presence and poaching penchant ensuring Eibar have not missed his one-time strike partner this season.

Furthermore, his arrival could be perfectly timed considering the confusion reigning over the future of on-loan frontman Chris Martin, who infuriated Fulham supporters by inking a new contract with parent club Derby despite the fact that the London club still have an option to purchase him at the end of the season.
Consequently, the hard-working Enrich, whose eye for a pass and vision in possession means he shares similarities with Martin beyond the ability to thump the ball into the back of the net, could step up to the plate if problems with the on-loan striker continue to escalate.
