Pedro Obiang has been tipped to return to Serie A with Sampdoria – but could Fulham raid their Premier League and London rivals instead?
Sampdoria need to fill the void in their midfield left by the departure of influential Uruguayan Lucas Torreira to Arsenal and would love to re-sign Pedro Obiang.
Though, according to Football London, new West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini would rather avoid selling the 26-year-old back to Serie A. And he would surely be even more unwilling to let Obiang join a Premier League and London rival.
But that has not stopped newly promoted Fulham from attempting to sign the energetic Spaniard from the club just a few miles down the road.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Fulham have made an offer for Obiang. And it is understood that the deal being offered to the midfielder is far more attractive from an economic point of view than the one being put on the table by Sampdoria.
But the chances of the former Atletico Madrid youngster making that short trip to Craven Cottage look slim.
TMW adds that Obiang has his heart set on a return to Sampdoria if he does indeed decide to leave West Ham this summer. He made 139 appearances for the Blucherchiati between 2010 and 2015.
Fortunately for Fulham, they have already reinforced their midfield with the signing of Jean Michel Seri from Nice.
