Scottish Premiership champions Celtic face a challenge keeping Belgian World Cup star Dedryck Boyata with Fulham reportedly going all out.
Celtic fans might have slept easy over the weekend, with Fulham signing Alfie Mawson and edging closer to a deal to sign Calum Chambers from Arsenal.
The Cottagers, after all, have spent the last few weeks being heavily linked with Dedryck Boyata, the Belgian World Cup star who Celtic are desperate to keep with just one year left on his Parkhead contract.
But just because Fulham have other options, that does not mean Boyata is no longer high on their lists of targets. With just a few days to go until the transfer window slams shut, the Times have reported that Fulham have made a £9 million bid for Boyata.
It is claimed that the former Manchester City youngster is wanted as a replacement for Tomas Kalas, who has returned to Chelsea after two years on loan at Craven Cottage.
It is unknown just yet how Celtic have responded to a hefty bid from the Premier League newcomers. Considering that Boyata will be a free agent in less than a year, £9 million certainly represents good value.
The Sun had reported in July that Fulham were ready to offer Boyata a considerable pay rise to lure him to West London, meaning the deal makes financial sense for all parties.
