Southampton have so far been reluctant to sell Matt Targett to Fulham.

Fulham have been linked with a whole host of left-backs this summer from Joe Bryan to Theo Hernandez, Ludwig Augustinsson to Oleksandr Zinchenko.
But Matt Targett, who shone during a loan spell at Craven Cottage between January and May last season, always appeared to be their number one target.
And after having a number of previous bids rejected by Southampton, TEAMtalk are reporting that Fulham have made a new offer worth £14 million for the 22-year-old.
It remains to be seen whether this latest bid is enough to convince The Saints, who value Targett at £15 million according to the Daily Echo, to sell. Though it does seem that they are preparing for the England U21 international’s exit by blocking Sam McQueen’s expected move to Bristol City.

Target has made just a smattering of Premier League appearances since breaking into the Southampton first-team in 2014/15, mostly thanks to the form of Ryan Bertrand. So it will be interesting to see whether he can now make the step up with Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham.
The newly promoted side have already signed one of last season’s stellar loanees, with striker Aleksandar Mitrovic arriving from Newcastle United on a permanent basis.
