Premier League newcomers Fulham appear to be looking for alternatives to Southampton’s Matt Targett with Bundesliga ace Willems now linked.

Fulham have strengthened their squad admirably this summer, as Slavisa Jokanovic prepares his team for life back in the Premier League. But one position is in need of reinforcement with a week to go before the end of the transfer window.
It has been reported that Fulham have made Southampton left-back Matt Targett their number one priority after the 22-year-old shone on loan at Craven Cottage from January to May.
But the Saints are playing hardball and Fulham’s latest bid, which the Mail (live blog, 1.12pm) claims is £12 million, has been rejected.
As a result, the Cottagers appear to have turned their sights towards a number of back-up options.
Marca states that they want Theo Hernandez on loan from Real Madrid, while reports in De Telegraaf are claiming that Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jetro Willems is also on their radar.

It is reported that Fulham have asked the Bundesliga outfit how much it would cost to sign the 24-year-old, who only moved to Frankfurt last summer from PSV Eindhoven.
Willems is a powerful and athletic full-back with superb crossing ability. He was at his best in the 2014/15 season, setting up 13 goals as PSV won the Eredivisie title.
He started only 19 Bundesliga games in his debut season in Germany but did help unfancied Frankfurt beat Bayern Munich in a stunning DFB Pokal final.
