Premier League duo Fulham and Watford were allegedly keen to sign Argentina international Musacchio from Serie A powerhouses AC Milan.

AC Milan rejected offers from both Fulham and Watford for centre-back Mateo Musacchio in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.
The Argentine international ended a long and fruitful spell at Villarreal to sign for Milan in the summer of 2017, costing a hefty £16 million (Goal). And he has been a regular ever since Gennaro Gattuso took over from Vincenzo Montella at the San Siro.
According to the Calciomercato, Fulham and Watford made attempts to bring Musacchio to the Premier League last month with a new centre-back understood to be high on the wishlist of both clubs.
Fulham, in particular, are crying out for defensive reinforcements given that they have conceded more goals in the Premier League than any other side. Claudio Ranieri’s Cottagers are now seven points from safety.
But Calciomercato reports that Gattuso made it clear that he wanted Musacchio to stay at Milan and, as a result, sporting director Leonardo then rejected all offers.
The defender has since started all of Milan’s games since Serie A resumed after the winter break with the Rossoneri sitting fourth in Serie A with a return to the Champions League in their sights.
