Ahmed Hegazi has been a key player for West Bromwich Albion in the Championship, reportedly catching the eye of Turkish Super Lig outfit Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce want West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi to replace veteran Martin Skrtel in the summer, according to Aksam.
A 28-year-old Egyptian international, Hegazi joined the Baggies on loan from Al Ahly in the summer of 2017 and made a real impact at The Hawthorns. So much so that they jumped at the chance to sign the centre-back permanently for a bargain £4 million, according to the Mail.
Hegazi has remained one of the first names on the team sheet ever since with West Brom now plotting an escape from the Championship.
But his future beyond this season has been brought into question, with Aksam claiming that Fenerbahce have made him their number one target to replace the 34-year-old Skrtel.
It is claimed that the former Liverpool defender will leave the club this summer after failing to come to an agreement over an extension to his contract. Hegazi would be an ideal replacement but Aksam points out that any deal is likely to depend on what division West Brom are in next season.
West Brom apparently want £6.5 million for Hegazi. Although, with Fenerbahce still in danger of a staggering relegation from the Turkish top flight, they will need to survive if they want to lure him to Istanbul.
