Report: Fenerbahce enquire about Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos

Scottish Premiership giants Rangers face a huge challenge holding onto Alfredo Morelos with Turkish giants Fenerbahce hoping to sign him.

Alfredo Morelos might not have left Rangers for the riches of the Far East during the January transfer window but expect plenty more speculation about the striker’s future over the next few months.

As reported by Sky Sports, Chinese outfit Beijing Renhe were keen to sign the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer late last month but Rangers stood firm and refused to let Morelos leave, despite receiving an offer worth £8 million.

But it is not just clubs in China keen on the Colombian striker, who was a relative unknown when Rangers paid £1 million to sign him from HJK Helsinki in the summer.

Turkish publication Fotospor have credited Fenerbahce with an interest in the 21-year-old.

The Istanbul giants have Tottenham loanee Vincent Janssen (below) and former Spurs flop Roberto Soldado on their books but they have netted five league goals between them this season, necessitating the need for a new striker.

And now, Fotomac (13 February, page 6) report that Fenerbahce have already approached Rangers to ask how much they would want for a striker who has taken Scotland by storm this season with 15 goals in all competitions.

It is understood that Fener manager Aykut Kocaman is a big fan of Morelos and talks between the two clubs are set to continue over the next few weeks.

It is uncertain how much Rangers would want before they would consider selling Morelos. But, after rejecting bids of £8 million in January, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he could overtake Alan Hutton as the most expensive export in Rangers’ history.
