After months and months of speculation, Christian Pulisic is finally a Premier League player. Well, almost.

According to The Independent, the American superstar is on his way to Chelsea in a deal worth £63 million – though he will stay at Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season with Lucian Favre’s side six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Now, Liverpool fans might be scratching their heads and wondering why Pulisic is on his way to Stamford Bridge rather than Anfield. The Reds have been frequently linked with the 20-year-old attacker with Jurgen Klopp, the former Dortmund boss, understood to be a huge fan.

But, according to Bleacher Report, there are reasons why Liverpool stepped back and allowed Chelsea to snap up the in-demand USA wonderkid.

It is understood that Liverpool dropped out of the race because Klopp felt it would be difficult to find a place for Pulisic in his side. And you can certainly see where the affable German is coming from.

With Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah, Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge all at Klopp’s disposal, plus a number of talented options in central midfield, there is hardly a need for a player like Pulisic at Anfield right now.

At Chelsea, however, the youngster looks a perfect fit for Maurizio Sarri’s free-flowing yet sometimes toothless side.
