St Mirren’s Lewis Morgan was linked with a return to former club Rangers, but has reportedly chosen Old Firm rivals Celtic instead.

It’s been a busy couple of days for Celtic in the transfer market. Not only are they on the verge of signing German defender Marvin Compper from RB Leipzig, they are also set to complete the signing of one of Scotland’s most exciting youngsters.
According to Herald Scotland, Celtic are close to announcing a deal for Lewis Morgan, the 21-year-old winger who has shone in the second tier for St Mirren this season. It is understood that Morgan will stay at the Championship club until the end of the season before moving to Parkhead in the summer.

And Celtic’s deal is a major blow to Rangers, who the report added wanted to bring Morgan back to Ibrox after they released him from their academy back in 2013.
Herald Scotland, however, state that Morgan chose Celtic over their Old Firm rivals because he felt that Brendan Rodgers was the best manager to further his career.

And you can see exactly why Morgan would come to that conclusion. The former Chelsea academy coach has a reputation of being one of the best in the business when it comes to getting the most out of young talent such as Raheem Sterling, Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair.
So while first-team football may be a little more difficult to come across at Celtic, who aren’t short of quality wingers, Morgan’s development certainly won’t be harmed by working with a manager like Rodgers.
