Jack Colback has no future at Premier League club Newcastle United, but will Nottingham Forest bring him to the Championship permanently?

Nottingham Forest would surely love to sign Jack Colback on a permanent basis after an impressive loan spell at the City Ground from Newcastle United.

But, according to the Nottingham Post, it is far from certain that the tenacious midfielder will still be at the club at the start of next season. The report states that Colback is receiving around £40,000 a week at Newcastle and Forest would therefore be wary about breaking their wage structure this summer.

Although latest updates from the Chronicle perhaps show why Colback would be better served accepting a pay cut in order to seal a move away from St James’ Park this summer.

The former Sunderland man was told last summer by Rafa Benitez that he was not part of his plans but Colback refused to leave in an attempt to salvage his career on Tyneside. Considering that he spent the entire first half of the 2017/18 stuck in the reserves, it is fair to say he lost that battle.

And the Chronicle states that Colback will face an entire season playing academy football if he does not bid farewell to Newcastle this summer. So it is time for the 28-year-old to make a decision.

Does he want to boost his bank balance and fritter away his career at Newcastle or get paid a little less to feel like a footballer again at Forest?
