Everton snapped up Cenk Tosun in January but Premier League rivals Crystal Palace nearly signed the Turkish international last summer.

Cenk Tosun took his time arriving in England.
The Turkish international joined Everton from Besiktas in January for a fee of £27 million and, after a slow start, is showing the Goodison faithful what he is all about. Tosun has scored four goals in his last three Premier League appearances, notching a double in the 2-1 away win at Stoke City last weekend.
So Crystal Palace may be kicking themselves now at their failure to bring the 26-year-old to Selhurst Park last summer, particularly with Christian Benteke’s struggles in front of goal well documented.

This will not ease the frustration of Palace supporters, then, who have been critical of owner Steve Parish for an apparent reluctance to invest in the team.

The Eagles have only brought in four players on permanent deals since last summer, which has surely contributed to their current position of 16th.
It is fair to say Tosun, however, is not too concerned about missing out on the chance to play for Roy Hodgson.
“Crystal Palace wanted to sign me during the first phase of the season but it couldn’t happen. I’m glad it didn’t because I now play for a bigger club in the Premier League,” he said in quotes reported by TRT Spor.
