Premier League newcomers Aston Villa have been heavily linked with Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba.
Marvelous Nakamba has made it clear that he wants to leave Club Brugge this summer he has been left frustrated as a potential move to Aston Villa fails to materialise, according to HLN.
Aston Villa have taken the transfer market by storm since they returned to the Premier League after a three year absence, spending over £50 million already with the likes of Wesley Moraes, Matt Targett and Jota all arriving in the last few weeks.
And, according to the Chronicle, Zimbabwe international Nakamba was the next in line for a big-money move to Villa Park.
A tough-tackling and hard-working midfielder, Nakamba neutralised the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Marco Reus in last season’s Champions League and he’d provide a sheet of steel at the heart of an exciting and ball-playing Aston Villa midfield.
But the trail appears to have grown cold in recent days.
HLN suggests that Nakamba was keen on a move to the Premier League and he has been left frustrated with the deal stalling. The report adds that the former Vitesse Arnhem man could cost just £6 million, which was far less than previously suggested.
And Nakamba’s stance goes to show that, even after three years in the Championship, Aston Villa still have plenty of pulling power across Europe.
