Bournemouth are allegedly making it difficult for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to seal a move away from the Vitality Stadium.
Burnley and Stoke City both showed interest in signing Asmir Begovic during the summer transfer window only to be left frustrated in negotiations with the Bournemouth goalkeeper, according to the Daily Star.
As it stands, Begovic is stuck in purgatory on the South Coast. He has featured in only two Premier League games since a series of mistakes in the autumn and currently finds himself well down Eddie Howe’s pecking order, behind youngsters Aaron Ramsdale and Mark Travers.
The 32-year-old has made his feelings clear and reportedly remains hopeful of sealing a move away from Bournemouth before the transfer window slams shut, but that is easier said than done.
The Star claims that Burnley wanted to sign Begovic recently while Stoke wanted to bring the Bosnian back to the Potteries. The veteran ‘keeper enjoyed the best years of his career with Stoke, starring between 2010 and 2015 before earning a move to Chelsea.
Considering the way Jack Butland has played this season, the Potters would be forgiven for wishing they had managed to get a deal over the line.
But, according to the Star, Bournemouth are playing hard-ball over a £10 million goalkeeper with three years left on his contract, blocking a move to Aris as they were worried that a loan spell in Greece would make it even more difficult to sell the forgotten man in the future.
Eintracht Frankfurt, Montpellier, Olympiakos, Fenerbahce and Real Sociedad have all shown an interest but will Begovic spend the next few months stuck in the sidelines?
