George Thorne and Ikechi Anya have not made a Championship appearance for Frank Lampard’s Derby County this season.

Aside from their 1-0 defeat at an inspired Rotherham United on Saturday, Derby County have been quite impressive since Frank Lampard was handed the reigns at Pride Park over the summer.
The Rams are just three points off the top after seven games played and have amassed 12 points in that time.
That said, two players who do not appear to be part of Lampard’s plans surely should not stick around for the duration of the 2018/19 season. According to Derbyshire Live, midfielder George Thorne and winger Ikechi Anya have no place in Derby’s first-team and are therefore expected to feature for the U23s in their clash against Everton on Monday night.
Thorne has only made nine league starts for the Rams since missing the entire 2016/17 campaign with a broken leg. He has not played a single game since Lampard took over.

Neither has Anya, the experienced Scotland international who also struggled for game time in the previous campaign, with just four of his nine league appearances coming from the start.
Thorne and Anya, however, would be regulars at many a Championship club, and staying at Derby is doing neither of them any favours. If Lampard is not calling on them, a January exit should be planned already in order to avoid spending the entire season in the reserves.
