Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy has been linked with Premier League bottom-club Huddersfield Town and Championship chasers Derby County.
The two Murphy twins are both playing Premier League football these days. But while Josh is getting fans off their seats at Cardiff City, Jacob is struggling for opportunities at Newcastle United.
The 23-year-old joined his boyhood club from Norwich City in 2017 for a hefty fee of £12 million. But it seems that he is yet to win over Rafa Benitez with just three Premier League starts to his name this season, another five coming from the bench.
Now, The Mirror reported that a shot-shy Huddersfield Town side have approached Newcastle about the prospect of signing Murphy on loan as they plot a remarkable escape from the relegation zone.
Championship promotion chasers Derby County are also understood to be keen on the England U21 international, who scored nine goals and assisted six more in the second tier for Norwich in the 2016/17 season.
But are Newcastle willing to let Murphy go? To put it simply; no.
According to The Chronicle, Benitez has no interest in letting Murphy leave on loan this month unless, of course, he is able to bring in a number of new faces. With money tight under Mike Ashley and a mooted takeover seemingly no closer, signings seem beyond The Magpies as things stand.
The Chronicle adds that Murphy could get some minutes with a hectic fixture schedule on the horizon and he is expected to feature in the FA Cup third round clash against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.
