Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri reportedly wants to sign Newcastle United’s Premier League midfielder Jonjo Shelvey in a swap with Tom Cairney.

It seems a long time now since the growing clamour for Jonjo Shelvey to be included in England’s World Cup squad.
The 26-year-old was outstanding as Newcastle United finished in the Premier League’s top 10 last season but he has been forced to accept a reduced role under Rafa Benitez in the first half of 2018/19.
With Ki Sung-Yeung establishing himself in Benitez’s starting XI, Shelvey has started just eight Premier League games.
And the former Liverpool youngster’s future came into question recently when The Sun claimed that Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri wanted to bring him to Craven Cottage as part of a potential swap deal involving Tom Cairney.
Newcastle have been linked with Cairney for over a year now so it would have been no surprise if they would jump at the chance to bring the creative midfielder to St James’ Park.

But, according to Bleacher Report, The Magpies are not willing to lose Shelvey in order to get their claws on Cairney. It is understood that Newcastle have no interest in letting him go midway through the season with relegation still a possibility.
Benitez’s side are just three points above the relegation zone and Shelvey could still have a big role to play in their survival bid.
