Joe Mason has returned to Molinuex after a loan spell at MLS outfit Colorado Rapids, but does he have a future in the Premier League with Wolves?
It all started so well for Joe Mason in the MLS.
The 27-year-old scored on his debut for Colorado Rapids in a 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City but, in truth, that was about as good as it got for the Wolves loanee over the Atlantic. The versatile forward managed just two more goals in his next 13 games in America, with his Colorado side sitting second from bottom in the Western Conference.
As a result, Mason has now returned to England with his loan spell brought to an end. MLS Soccer reports that Colorado could be preparing a move for the former Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes as his replacement.
And the former Cardiff City forward, who moved to Molineux for £2 million in 2016, is facing an uncertain future right now.
Wolves have been promoted to the Premier League in the time since Mason moved overseas and, according to The Mirror (July 13, page 59), it is unlikely that he has any future with the Black Country side.
Mason did not make a single Championship appearance under Nuno Espirito Santo and spent the first half of last season on loan at Burton Albion, managing just one goal in six games for the Brewers.
