Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly made a bid to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Premier League champions Manchester City at the start of the month.

According to the Sun, Wolves are set to sign Spanish U21 international Jonny Castro on a season-long loan once he completes his £6 million move to Atletico Madrid from Celta Vigo.
This came on the same day that the Premier League newcomers surprisingly decided to accept a bid from Leeds United for Barry Douglas, the man who produced a Championship-best 14 assists in the 2017/18 season, as reported by the Express and Star.
But where does all this drama leave the move for Oleksandr Zinchenko?
In the first week of July, Sky Sports reported that Wolves had made a club-record £16 million bid to sign Manchester City’s young Ukrainian international but, since then, the trail has grown cold with suggestions that the deal is dead in the water.
But the Mirror (live blog, 2.27pm) suggests that is not necessarily the case. Despite being set to land Jonny, the report claims that they have not yet given up hope of sealing the deal for Zinchenko.
The 21-year-old could perhaps be used as a back-up to Jonny in the left-wing position or fielded in his favoured role in the centre of midfield. In short, Zinchenko is a signing that would give Nuno plenty of options and Wolves should still go all out to get it across the line.
