The Argentine has been linked with a move away from West Ham United.

With West Ham United struggling on the pitch and looking in dire straits off it, too, it would be little surprise if Manuel Lanzini was once again linked with a move away in the summer transfer window.

The Argentine play-maker is arguably the most naturally gifted player in David Moyes’ squad and, as a result, has been targeted by clubs higher up the Premier League ladder.

ESPN claimed in November that Tottenham Hotspur are keen, with Mauricio Pochettino a big admirer of his compatriot.

The Sun, meanwhile, reported that Liverpool were interested in a player who could cost as much as £40 million, with Lanzini potentially lined up as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

So, according to Football London, West Ham are putting plans in place to ensure Lanzini remains in claret and blue for a good deal longer. It is understood that the 25-year-old’s current contract runs until 2020 but he is earning a paltry £35,000 a week; a fraction of the figure he would earn at a bigger top flight club.

So Football London claims that the Hammers are keen to tie the former Al Jazira star down under fresh terms, with Lanzini set to see his wages doubled to £70,000-a-week should the club manage to stave off the threat of relegation.

This would still put Lanzini well behind the club’s top earners, but suggestions that he is frustrated with the lack of movement on a new contract suggests his priority is to stay a West Ham player.
