Karim Ansarifard is yet to sign for Nottingham Forest despite being linked with Aitor Karanka’s side for a number of weeks.

Karim Ansarifard to Nottingham Forest is becoming a bit of a saga. It is around three weeks now since the Iranian international was first linked with a move to the City Ground while The Mail claim that Forest have indeed held talks.

But despite being released by Olympiakos at the end of the transfer window, Ansarifard is still yet to arrive in the East Midlands.

The 28-year-old admitted to the Tehran Times this week that a move to Forest was certainly on the cards, saying: “I know that I have a difficult task ahead since Nottingham Forest are among the best teams in Championship but I will do my best and I’m happy and I hope to help the team to achieve our goals. I think so many football players dream of playing in England.”

But latest reports from the Nottingham Post (video: 4:40) suggest that the fans will have to be patient.

It is claimed that Forest are indeed working hard to get Ansarifard tied down and a deal is likely to happen. But it could take another two weeks for the contract to be agreed.

Ansarifard is very unlikely to be a Forest player before this weekend’s clash with Rotherham United and it could take until October before the fans finally get to see him in action.

Ansarifard scored 18 times in just 27 games for Olympiakos last season and should help a Forest side struggling for goals.
