Arsenal are expected to announce the £6m signing of Gabriel Martinelli with Edu central to his arrival.

Unai Emery the head coach

FC Ituano starlet Gabriel Martinelli could make his Arsenal debut in their first pre-season friendly against Boreham Wood next month, according to Football London.

The teenage Brazilian is expected to be named as The Gunners’ maiden summer signing within the next few weeks with Unai Emery’s side set to sign Martinelli for a bargain fee of just £6 million.

A skilful winger who has caught the eye with his terrific goal-scoring record at youth level, not to mention his ability to carry the ball long distances with pace and elegance, Martinelli has been compared to the likes of Richarlison and Heung-Min Son with his move to the Emirates apparently a formality.

Heung-Min Son of Spurs celebrates his teams goal during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United at Wembley Stadium on January 4, 2018 in London, England.

And Football London believes that the forward could even be in line to make his first appearance in the famous red and white shirt when an Arsenal XI take on non-league Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on July 8.

The report adds that Edu, a former ‘Invincible’ who is set to return to the Emirates as the club’s new director of football, has played a major role in the deal to bring Martinelli to North London alongside current head of international recruitment Francis Cagigao.
