Premier League newcomers Aston Villa are expected to sign Kortney Hause from Midland rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Aston Villa are expected to complete the £3 million signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause before the end of the week, according to the Express and Star.
Alongside Tammy Abraham, Anwar El-Ghazi, Axel Tuanzebe and Tyrone Mings, Hause was one of a number of loanees who played a major role as Dean Smith’s side sealed their long-awaited return to the Premier League in May.
The former England U21 international arrived at Villa Park on a short-term deal from local rivals Wolves and made 12 Championship appearances, playing both at centre-half and left-back.
And, according to the Express and Star, Hause is expected to join Aston Villa on a permanent basis with a bargain £3 million deal expected to be signed, sealed and delivered in the next few days.
Hause will become Villa’s fourth summer signing, after El-Ghazi, Jota and £22 million striker Wesley Moraes.
The 23-year-old’s versatility could make him a hugely important part of Smith’s squad going forward, particularly given that he offers depth and quality in a troublesome left-back position.
And a permanent departure from Wolves probably comes at the right time. Hause has played just seven minutes of league football since Nuno Espirito Santo took over at Molineux in 2017 and it seems very unlikely that he is part of the former Valencia boss’s plans going forward.
