Derby County boss Frank Lampard brought Liverpool’s Harry Wilson and Chelsea’s Mason Mount to the Championship in the summer.
Derby County secured two of the best deals anywhere in the Championship this season when they landed Harry Wilson and Mason Mount on season-long loans.
The attacking midfield duo moved to Pride Park from Liverpool and Chelsea respectively and have made a massive impact under Frank Lampard. Wales international Wilson has scored seven goals from 14 league starts while Mount has sparkled in central midfield, earning a shock call-up to the senior England squad in October.
And, perhaps inspired by the success of Wilson and Mount, not to mention the Chelsea-owned centre-back Fikayo Tomori, The Mirror (live blog, 8.11am), Derby are hoping to pull off similar inspired moves in the January transfer window.
It is understood that Derby will look to make another couple of loan signings in the mid-season as they aim to end their long exile from the top flight.
And it would be little surprise if Lampard attempted to use his connections at Chelsea to his advantage again, the Birmingham Mail claiming that 18-year-old centre-back Ethan Ampadu is a target for the Derby boss.
The Rams are fourth in the Championship right now, six points behind Norwich City in first place.
