Romaine Sawyers has been linked with West Bromwich Albion after some fine Championship displays for Brentford.
Romaine Sawyers could be staying at Brentford until the end of the season with West Bromwich Albion seemingly unable to afford his asking price, according to the Express and Star.
One of the most underrated central midfielders in the Championship, the skilful and stylish Sawyers has produced five assists for the Bees this season and has continued to stand out even after the departure of the influential manager Dean Smith.
As a result, the Express and Star reports that Baggies boss Darren Moore was weighing up a move for the 27-year-old St Kitts and Nevis international.
But it seems that Sawyers is set to remain at Griffin Park for the time being. Brentford have demanded £4 million and it seems this is a little rich for West Brom, who are instead targeting cheap loan deals in the final few hours of the January transfer window.
One player who does look set to arrive before Thursday’s deadline, however, is the £12 million Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy.
The England U21 international enjoyed a superb spell at Norwich City in 2016/17 and is expected to leave St James’ Park on a temporary basis.
