Former Inter Milan boss Andrea Stramaccioni has been linked with a shock move to Championship giants Aston Villa, where Steve Bruce is under pressure.
And it wasn’t easy to find a single supporter positive about the shock links with this 42-year-old tactician, one going as far as to describe him as a ‘complete and utter failure’.
It’s fair to say Stramaccioni’s CV doesn’t really compare to that of Bruce, who has won promotion from the Championship four times and led Villa to the playoff final this season too, albeit losing against Fulham at Wembley.
Under a 36-year-old Stramaccioni, Inter Milan failed to qualify for Europe for the first time in nine years when finishing ninth in Serie A. His Udinese side were then nearly relegated from the Italian top flight and spells with Panathiniakos and Sparta Prague were deeply unimpressive.
The report states that Aston Villa are more positive about his man-management skills and his perfect English. It is understood that Stramaccioni spent a year in Los Angeles after leaving Inter in 2013 to learn the language.
But his track record, and lack of experience in English football, means Aston Villa would be taking a massive gamble.
