Leicester City have won four out of eight Premier League games so far this season but there is pressure on manager Claude Puel again.
It is a year this month since Claude Puel was appointed as the manager of Leicester City. And it seems that the Frenchman has spent most of the last 12 months under almost constant pressure.
Puel’s desire to bring a more possession-based style to the King Power Stadium has put him at odds with fans, who desire a return to the fast-paced and frenetic style that led the Foxes to that remarkable Premier League title triumph under Claudio Ranieri in 2016.
According to the Sun (14 October, page 61), the former Nice and Monaco manager is once again fighting for his future at Leicester, having kept his job against the odds over the summer.
It has hardly been a bad start to the season for Leicester, who are tenth in the table with four wins from eight games. But the Sun reports that there is concern about the atmosphere at the training ground and whether Puel is the man to get the best out of the gifted attackers at the club’s disposal.
These are notably similar to the concerns voiced during the end of Puel’s disappointing spell at Southampton in 2017.
Having said that, Leicester have scored just one less goal than Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this season (14) with James Maddison, Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy starting the campaign in positive fashion.
