Akhmat Grozny have reportedly offered Newcastle United the chance to bring Iranian full-back Mohammadi to the Premier League.
Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Iranian international Milad Mohammadi by Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny, according to The Mail.
The 25-year-old, who impressed during last summer’s World Cup, is out of contract at the end of this season and it seems that his club are looking to sell now rather than lose him on a free, The Sun claiming that he is worth around £2 million.
And Mohammadi could be a welcome addition to Newcastle’s squad given that he is capable of playing in either full-back position.
On paper, he could finally solve the left-back problem that has given Rafa Benitez plenty of headaches in the last few years.
According to The Chronicle, however, Newcastle would rather sign Mohammadi on loan until the end of the season, giving the defender the chance to prove himself in the Premier League before deciding whether he deserves a permanent deal.
Whether Akhmat Grozny will agree to these terms seems doubtful, however, given that this would see them lose their prized asset on a free.
The report adds that Newcastle are looking at a number of alternative full-backs with Juventus’ Leonardo Spinazzola and PSG youngster Stanley N’Soki on their radar.
