Sebastian Bassong has been training with Championship side Queens Park Rangers but will he be offered a contract by the Loftus Road club?
Sebastian Bassong is just 32 and has plenty left to give. But the experienced centre-back has been without a club since he was released by Norwich City all the way back in the summer of 2017. Although this is not for a lack of trying.
Bassong has spent the last few weeks training with Queens Park Rangers as he aims to get his career back on track. The defender has even featured a couple of times for QPR’s U23 side.
The Birmingham Mail suggested a week ago that Bassong could be offered a contract at Loftus Road.
Latest reports from West London Sport, however, have now poured cold water on the possibility of the Cameroon international becoming a permanent fixture at QPR.
It is claimed that QPR manager Steve McClaren currently has no plans to sign Bassong on a free transfer.
This is despite the fact that the West London side have looked a shambles at the back at times this season. No side in the Championship has conceded as many goals as QPR (13) with seven of those coming in that infamous thrashing away to West Brom.
