Swansea City have been keen to sign West Bromwich Albion winger Nacer Chadli as far back as his days at Tottenham Hotspur.
Nacer Chadli has been linked with a move to Swansea City almost relentlessly for the past year-and-a-half. But it seems that the South Wales side will once again see the Belgian international slip through their grasp.
Swansea were understood to be have been interested in signing Chadli before he swapped Tottenham Hotspur for West Brom for a club-record £13 million the summer of 2016. But that did not stop the Swans from trying to get their man.
The BBC claimed that Chadli was keen to move to the Liberty Stadium just a few months ago after falling out with then-Baggies boss Tony Pulis. But Wales Online stated that a deal fell through when West Brom demanded a fee of £28 million.
And while Bleacher Report suggested that the Swans would renew their interest in January, and were more confident than ever of getting their man, Wales Online have once again poured cold water on any speculation.
Chadli will miss the next two months with a hip injury. And the report states that this has put pay to any hopes Swansea had of bringing Chadli to club in the first month of 2018 – the deal described as being ‘dead in the water’.
Chadli is a skilful and speedy wide man who has an impressive goals tally from his time at Tottenham and West Brom.
So he could have been a useful addition to a Swansea side who have scored fewer goals than any other top flight side this season.
