Jonny Otto has been hugely impressive since he arrived in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers from Diego Simeone’s La Liga side.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to equal their transfer record to turn Jonny Otto’s loan into a permanent transfer, according to the Mail.

The Spanish left-back arrived at Molineux on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer, just days after the 2014 La Liga champions snapped him up from Celta Vigo in a deal worth around £6.2 million (AS).

And Jonny has been a revelation in the Black Country, impressing in attack and defence as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side took to life in the top flight like a duck to water.

As a result, the Mail claims that Wolves have jumped at the chance to keep Jonny around beyond the end of the season. It is understood that Wolves have entered talks with Atletico and are willing to pay £18 million.

This is the same fee that the club paid to sign Adama Traore from Middlesbrough in the summer, the former Barcelona winger becoming the most expensive signing in their history.

According to Fichajes, Atleti could be forced to sell a number of their fringe players to make room for the arrival of Alvaro Morata from Chelsea with Jonny, alongside Nikola Kalinic and Gelson Martins, one of those most likely to be sacrificed.
