Premier League outfit Everton paid £7million to sign Onyekuru in 2017 but he’s on loan at Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.

Everton are increasingly hopeful that Henry Onyekuru will make his long-awaited debut for the Merseyside club next season, according to Liverpool Echo.

The Nigerian striker has been an Everton player since the summer of 2017, when the Toffees saw off competition from clubs all across the continent to snap him up for a fee of £7 million after a 24-goal season with Belgian outfit KAS Eupen.

Onyekuru is yet to receive a work permit allowing him to play in England, however, meaning he is currently on loan with Galatasaray having spent the 2017/18 season with Anderlecht.

According to the Liverpool Echo, however, Everton are confident that they can finally twist the FA’s arm and get the green light to finally make the 21-year-old a key part of their squad.

It is understood that Everton’s scouts have watched Onyekuru 12 times this season while head coach Marco Silva has also been keeping a close eye on his progress over in Turkey with the reigning Super Lig champions.

The Star reported in January that Onyekuru, who has nine goals this season, wanted to stay at Galatasaray and Everton could be forced to sell with the forward valued at £9 million.

But if they can finally obtain a work permit, they will not need to cash in.
