Brendan Galloway allegedly won’t play another Premier League game for Everton but he could shine in the Championship with Graeme Jones’ Luton Town.
Brendan Galloway has played his final game for Everton, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that he will be released from his contract this week to pave the way for a permanent move to Luton Town.
The 23-year-old is one of the longest serving players in Everton’s squad. He signed all the way back in 2014 from MK Dons during Roberto Martinez’s reign but, in those five years, he has accumulated just 17 Premier League appearances.
And a pair of ill-fated loan spells, at West Brom and Sunderland respectively, appear to have eroded any confidence The Toffees had in their young defender.
Galloway still has another 12 months on his contract at Goodison Park but the Liverpool Echo report that Everton will let him go for free with Luton keen to make him one of their first signings since they were promoted back to the Championship.
A move to Kenilworth Road would see the Zimbabwe international reunited with Graeme Jones, who worked as Martinez’s assistant on Merseyside before seizing the chance to become a manager in his own right.
In truth, Galloway won’t be missed at Everton, particularly with Marco Silva and Marcel Brands both working to bring in some new faces to complete a back line which has already lost both Kurt Zouma and Phil Jagielka of late.
