Everton are reportedly trying to bring Paco Alcacer to the Premier League and La Liga champions Barcelona are allegedly willing to sell.

Paco Alcacer’s time at Barcelona looks over.

Since moving to the Camp Nou from Valencia in 2016, the £30 million striker has been handed just 14 La Liga starts. In that time, he has gone from being a candidate for Spain’s number nine shirt to being nowhere near the national squad.

As a result, it seems that Alcacar needs to take a step down from Barca in order to kick-start his career as he is no longer part of Ernesto Valverde’s plans. And it seems that Everton would be willing to give him that opportunity.

According to Sport, Everton have enquired about the availability of the 24-year-old while discussing a potential move for his Camp Nou teammate, the towering Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina.

The report adds that the Merseysiders were interested in signing Alcacer in January and could make a bid now, although Barca are hoping to recoup every penny of their £30 million investment.

Everton are set to hold talks with his representatives next week about a potential move to Goodison Park.

Everton signed Cenk Tosun in January to fill the void left by the departure of Romelu Lukaku, but Alcacer is a natural-born goal-scorer who would add predatory instincts to the Toffees’ often toothless attack.

Alcacer scored 30 goals in 93 La Liga games for Valencia and also has six in 13 for Spain.
