Everton are expected to confirm the futures of a number of their most exciting youngsters in the next few weeks.

Everton manager Marco Silva gestures during the Pre-Season Friendly between Everton and Valencia at Goodison Park on August 4, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton are expected to confirm the departures of youngsters Boris Mathis and Mateusz Hewelt before the end of the month, according to the Liverpool Echo.

One of the most prosperous academies in English football is expected to undergo a number of personnel changes this summer with the future of some of Everton’s young talents very much up in the air.

The Echo claims that Manesse Mampala is in talks over a new deal while centre-back Con Ouzounidis and Korede Adedoyin are both expected to commit their futures to the Goodison Park outfit in the next few weeks.

Two players who do look set to bid farewell, however, are out of contract duo Mathis and Hewelt.

Mathis, a 21-year-old French forward, joined The Toffees from Metz in 2017 during Steve Walsh’s spell as director of football but his time in England has been severely blemished by a disappointing loan spell at Northampton Town, where he failed to score in five league games.

“You have to make decisions as a manager that you think are going to help the group. I need people around who want to play for this football club, players that will give their heart and soul and every last drop of sweat and blood for this team and do what they’ve got to do to get the results we strive for,” Cobblers caretaker manager Dean Austin told The Echo in April 2018, seemingly taking aim at Mathis’ commitment.

Hewelt, meanwhile, is a 22-year-old goalkeeper who has fallen further down the pecking order after the signing of Jonas Lossl on a free transfer from Huddersfield Town. The Pole made just four Premier League 2 appearances last season.
