Premier League duo Newcastle United and Everton will have been impressed if they watched Galatasaray’s Garry Rodrigues on Friday night.

Newcastle United are not the only Premier League team keeping a close eye on the Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues.

According to Turkish publication Fotomac, Everton have also watching the Cape Verde international very closely during an impressive campaign in which he has scored five and set up a further eight in the Super Lig.

The Toffees paid £27 million to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in January, per the BBC, and they could now be set to raid another Istanbul giant for their star man.

Fotomac adds that Everton have scouted Rodrigues on a number of occasions recently, with manager Sam Allardyce wanting regular updates about the former PAOK man’s form in the Turkish top tier.

And if representatives from Goodison Park were present at the Turk Telekom Stadium on Friday night, they would have been very impressed.

Rodrigues scored one and set up another two in a 5-0 thrashing of Bursaspor, and Fotomac is now reporting that Galatasaray have increased the exciting wideman’s price tag to around £18 million, far higher than Newcastle were prepared to pay during the January transfer window.

It is understood that The Magpies had a second bid of £7 million turned down, per Gunes, and Rodrigues’ inflated asking price means owner Mike Ashley will have to shatter the club’s 13-year-old transfer record.

Everton have much more money in the bank than the Magpies, meaning Goodison Park looks a far more likely destination than St James’ Park.
