Everton have been watching Porto defender Ivan Marcano for some time, but he hardly impressed against Liverpool.

As reported by A Bola, Everton scouts were in attendance as Liverpool cruised to one of their greatest ever Champions League wins in midweek.
The Toffees’ Merseyside rivals headed to Porto for a tricky last-16 clash but, after 90 brutal minutes at the Dragao, the tie looks over already. Inspired by Mo Salah and a Sadio Mane hat-trick Liverpool scored five unanswered goals.
And if Everton were there to keep a close eye on their long-standing target Ivan Marcano, it appears unlikely that he will have increased his chances of a summer move to Goodison Park.

The 30-year-old centre-back was the subject of a deadline day bid from Everton in August, according to A Bola. And fellow Portuguese publication O Jogo reported that the Toffees continue to watch Marcano, which perhaps explains why their scouts were at the Dragao on Tuesday.
Marcano played the full 90 minutes against Liverpool but it is fair to say that he did not enjoy his best evening in Porto colours.
The long-serving defender was ripped to shreds as Sergio Conceicao’s side suffered their heaviest ever home European defeat, managing just one successful tackle in the entire game as Liverpool ran riot.

Everton have had to endure dodgy defensive performances all season long from the likes of Ashley Williams and Michael Keane, while Eliaquim Mangala has not exactly steadied the ship since his loan move from Manchester City last month.
So any Goodison Park match-goers who saw Marcano in action will not exactly be clamouring for the Spaniard’s arrival on Merseyside when his contract expires at the end of this season.
