Former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa could return to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund with Everton and West Ham said to be interested.

Shinji Kagawa didn’t make the impact expected in his two seasons as a Manchester United player between 2012 and 2014.

But Tuttomercatowe reports that the Japanese international playmaker could be set for a shock return to England this summer with Everton rivalling West Ham United for his signature.

Fussballeck reported over the weekend that Kagawa, who returned for a second spell at Bundesliga giants Dortmund three years ago, had been linked with a move to West Ham and a reunion with David Moyes, who interestingly struggled to get the best out of him during that ill-fated spell at Old Trafford.

But it is understood that Everton are also keen to bring Kagawa back to the North West this summer.

Kagawa was one of the most impressive rising talents in Europe when he swapped Dortmund for Manchester United back in 2012, having inspired Jurgen Klopp’s side to the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal triumph prior to his £17 million switch, as reported by The Guardian.

These days, however, Kagawa is no longer a first team regular at Dortmund and, thanks to injury, has started just 12 games in Germany’s top flight this season.

But, when fit, Kagawa has been one of the bright lights in a disappointing season for Peter Stoger’s side, managing an impressive six goals and seven assists in all competitions.
