Report: Allardyce wants to bring Manchester United’s Phil Jones to Everton

Sam Allardyce gave Phil Jones his debut at Blackburn Rovers and will move to link up with the Manchester United ace again at Everton.

Sam Allardyce might have been England manager for just one infamous game, but it appears that both Jack Wilshere and Phil Jones have done more than enough to impress the 63-year-old gaffer.

The Mail claims that Everton are hoping to lure Wilshere away from Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season, with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri set to put a deal in excess of £80,000-a-week on the table.

And the Times has now linked another Three Lions star with a reunion with Allardyce at Goodison Park. If the former Blackburn and Bolton boss is still managing on Merseyside, amid speculation over his future, he is understood to be interested in signing Phil Jones from Manchester United.

The 26-year-old, who has been in and out of the United side this season due to injuries, is out of contract at the end of the next campaign, although Jose Mourinho’s side do have the option to hand him a new deal.

But Mourinho is expected to make a new centre-back a top priority at United this summer, meaning Jones faces an uncertain future.

And Allardyce, who gave Jones his first ever Premier League start at the age of 18 after emerging through the ranks at Blackburn, is keen to link up with the versatile, Preston-born defender again.

The Times adds that Allardyce has remained in close contact with Jones, who left Blackburn for Old Trafford in a £16 million deal in 2011, and will build a new-look Everton defence around a player once tipped to be one of England’s great centre-backs.
