Everton are interested in a shock deal for Chelsea veteran David Luiz as Marco Silva looks to bring a new centre-back to Goodison Park, according to the Sun.

With time ticking down, the Toffees are scouring the market to find a replacement for Phil Jagielka and Kurt Zouma.

Zouma was a huge success on Merseyside last season, impressing on loan from Chelsea. And reports suggest that Everton could now return for another raid on Stamford Bridge as director of football Marcel Brands looks to make some final changes to an Everton squad that is looking increasingly capable of challenging for a top-six finish.

The Sun claims that Everton could sign England U21 ace Fikayo Tomori on loan – but he isn’t the only Chelsea defender on the radar of the Merseyside giants.

32-year-old Luiz is also a target, despite the fact that he only signed a new contract a few weeks ago.

The experienced Brazilian returned to Stamford Bridge for a second spell in West London in the summer of 2016, Chelsea paying £34 million to re-sign him from PSG (the Guardian).

Luiz has certainly matured over the years, putting that penchant for what Gary Neville deemed ‘PlayStation defending’ behind him. But will Chelsea really sell one of their most influential players with no chance of landing a replacement?
