Premier League Everton are hoping to sign Swansea City’s Ki Sung-Yeung, who had been in talks with Serie A giants AC Milan.
Just one day after Everton were linked with a shock move to sign Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung, the Toffees have been given a major boost in their pursuit of the South Korean international.
Sky Sports claimed that Everton wanted the 28-year-old on a free with his contract due to expire in June, but interest from one of Europe’s biggest and most historic clubs, AC Milan, made the Merseysiders’ challenge far harder.
So reports on Thursday from Calciomercato that Milan have now withdrawn from the race and will pursue alternative targets should be met with relief at Goodison Park.
The report says that Milan had been in talks with the former Celtic man and the Serie A giants’ sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli had reached an agreement in principle with Ki. But it is understood that this has now been cancelled.
Which should, in theory, leave the door open for Everton to bring Ki to Goodison Park in what would be a shock but bargain deal.
It remains to be seen whether Milan will now make him their top target.
