Could Premier League outfit Everton sign one of three Manchester United defenders with Kurt Zouma expected to stay at Chelsea?

Everton could make a move for one of three Manchester United defenders, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones or Chris Smalling, before the transfer window shuts this week, according to The Mail.

With just a matter days before the deadline, Everton can already be very content with their summer business.

In Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph, The Toffees now have a midfield boasting class and combativeness while former Juventus wonderkid Moise Kean looks like one of the most exciting strikers anywhere in world football.

But, in an ideal world, a new defender would still be on his way to Goodison Park before Thursday’s 5pm cut-off point.

And with last season’s loan star Kurt Zouma expected to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea, The Mail believes that Everton could focus their attention on Manchester United instead.

Harry Maguire’s world-record move to Old Trafford means that Jones, Smalling or Rojo could be forced out of the door and Everton are apparently interested in all three.

The question is, which of the three should Everton make their priority? The fact that most United fans would happily shell out to pay their taxi fare to Goodison Park doesn’t exactly reflect well on the defensive trio.
