After spending last season at Leeds United, Matthew Pennington is reportedly leaving the Premier League and Everton for another Championship club, Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town look likely to fail in an attempt to bring Danny Batth to Portman Road, according to the East Anglian Daily Times. Gareth McAuley, meanwhile, is set to sign for Rangers rather than return to the club he left in 2009, as reported by Herald Scotland.
Fortunately for Paul Hurst, however, one defender who does look set to arrive is Everton’s Matthew Pennington.
The 23-year-old is very highly-rated at Everton and worked with Marco Silva’s first-team during pre-season. But The Toffees went out and signed Yerry Mina and Kurt Zouma (loan), leaving Pennington in need of a loan move to secure regular first-team football.
And the EADT reports that Ipswich are working on a deal to sign the ball-playing defender until January. The Warrington born former England U19 international could replace the suspended Toto Nsiala in Hurst’s starting XI.

Pennington spent last season on loan at Leeds United but failed to impress in 24 Championship appearances.
The Liverpool Echo claimed that Leeds were interested in bringing him back for a second spell at Elland Road but that trail went cold with Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta seemingly looking to reinforce other positions.
