Salomon Rondon’s nine Premier League goals for Newcastle United have reported led to Everton interest in the West Bromwich Albion owned striker.
Everton are planning to nab Salomon Rondon from the clutches of Premier League rivals Newcastle United at the end of the season, as reported by the Daily Star.
The Venezuelan target man is currently on loan at St James’ Park from West Bromwich Albion and he has been a big hit on Tyneside, scoring nine times in the English top flight this season.
Rondon, who was often starved of service during his time under Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns, has thrived as the focal point as Rafa Benitez’s attack and showed his prowess from a dead ball last time out, netting a stunning free-kick against Bournemouth.
The Star reports that Newcastle will need to pay £16 million to sign Rondon permanently but whether owner Mike Ashley will stump up that fee remains to be seen.
Ashley is famously reluctant to shell out on player’s without a re-sale value and the former Zenit striker will turn 30 this year.
Everton are allegedly waiting in the wings.
It is well documented that the Toffees failed to adequately replace Romelu Lukaku two years ago and Rondon, while not as prolific as the Belgian, would give Marco Silva a presence in attack.
