Diego Maradona is a big fan of Argentina striker Gaich and allegedly so are Premier League strugglers Everton.
Adolfo Gaich is once again being linked with a move to Everton as the January transfer window draws near, with VamosCiclon pointing out that the San Lorenzo wonder-kid has a £12 million release clause in his contract.
At the age of 20, Gaich is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young players in South American football.
Nicknamed ‘The Tank’ due to his 6ft 3ins frame, the barrel-chested number nine was even handed his senior Argentina debut during a 4-0 thrashing of Mexico in September, having burst onto the scene with San Lorenzo last season.
Gaich’s agent Pablo Caro name-dropped Everton when discussing the clubs interested in his client over the summer, speaking to La Cicloneta, while admitting that the striker would benefit from moving to Europe sooner rather than later.
And new reports emerging from South America claim that Everton could finally get their man in January with Marco Silva’s side apparently still interested, despite the fact that Gaich is yet to score for San Lorenzo this season.
Gaich feels like a signing with Marcel Brands’ fingerprints all over it. The former PSV director is famed for his ability to spot diamonds in the rough after all, having previously brought the likes of Sergio Romero and Hirving Lozano over to Europe during his time at PSV and AZ.
Interestingly, TYC Sports claimed in October that Gaich is also a target for Argentine outfit Gimnasia. Their coach? A certain Diego Maradona.
