Everton are reportedly hoping to sign Espanyol’s 11-goal La Liga striker Borja Iglesias, who should cost £24million.

Everton are willing to offer Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias a staggering pay rise as they attempt to lure the Spaniard to Goodison Park, as reported by El Desmarque.

After scoring 22 times in the second tier with Real Zaragoza last season, Iglesias has taken to La Liga like a duck to water in his debut top flight campaign.

Iglesias has netted 14 goals in all competitions with 11 of those coming in the league.

As a result, Everton have expressed an interest in the old-school striker with the club still struggling to replace Romelu Lukaku, two years after the Belgian battering ram left Merseyside to join Manchester United.

The report claims that Everton could be willing to trigger his affordable £24 million release clause with Iglesias tempted by a switch to the Premier League.

To convince Iglesias to make the switch to Goodison, it is claimed the Toffees are willing to quadruple his wages.

Interestingly, Marca claim that Iglesias rejected Everton in January as he did not want to leave Espanyol in the lurch after just six months in Catalonia. It remains to be seen whether he would accept their offer in the summer.
